The mission canvas allows room to collaborate and co-design using all phases of the Defence by Design frameworks. Like all templates or canvases they are meant to be used in the spirit of design and should only scaffold the process. This large format (meant to be printed on A2 paper) makes it easier to capture more creative ideas with the team and to collaborate and to share work with others in a presentation format. Follow these steps to complete your mission:
MISSION CANVAS
- Write your mission in the centre of the canvas
- Once the mission is written down, commence the Defence by Design framework. Most design problems start with Scout and move clockwise through the phases
- Proceed through the framework, using the white space in each phase to capture relevant information.
- Use sketches and drawings to convey information quickly. rough sketches allow different creative processes to emerge.
- It is not a linear process. Returning to earlier phases is allowed and encouraged. Moving around and through the canvas is essential to a good design solution. Capture this movement on the canvas.
- Ending on Deploy, this should leave you with a successful solution
